15 Minutes of Fame Liberty Medal Award Winner - Harold Bill DeLong
By Beatrice Smith, CL - Editor
" Many years ago, I served Andy Worhol at a Madison Square Sports event. The Garden was filled with many celebrities and he made the statement, everyone has 15 minutes of fame in their life time. When the NY Post sent a limo to pick me up at my apartment on September 26th, I found my 15 minutes of fame. I finally made the grade, and I hope Andy was watching me. " - Harold B. Delong
Mr. Harold B. Delong received one of the Liberty Medal Awards for his accomplishments in the USA at the WTC and humanitarian volunteer work throughout the world.
Governor Pataki presented Mr. Delong the Ambassador Award on September 26th, 2002, at Gracie Mansion. Bill stated "A great honor indeed, to be selected by some of New York's most prominent citizens on the panel of judges. I was given star treatment, along with 10 other Liberty Medal Award winners, and each had their own category, mine was Ambassador Award. The event was filled with nationally known celebrities from movies, radio, stage and TV I met so many famous people, that I forgot I was the main event, along with 10 other nominees." Our club is proud to have such an outgoing and compassionate member. Kudos to you Bill!!
